A few years ago, we made the huge decision to move from our house in Manchester to a flat here in Rhoscolyn. It wasn’t easy. There were tears as we downsized, leaving behind not just a home we had lovingly renovated over 13 years, but also our circle of friends, schools, and family support. Moving to Rhoscolyn meant starting fresh in many ways — new schools for the boys, new friends for us in our 40s, and the emotional challenge of leaving grandparents and loved ones behind.

Not long after we moved, Jennie’s dad became very unwell and later passed away. It was one of the hardest times of our lives, and there were moments when we questioned everything. But in the middle of that pain came clarity: we only get one life, and we needed to do what felt best for us as a family.

Over the past few years, Rhoscolyn has given us so much joy. Our boys are thriving, we’ve grown closer as a family, and we’ve fallen even more in love with the beauty of this place. But as Henry grows older, space has become more of a challenge. If this flat had just one more bedroom, we’d happily stay forever.

The housing market in Wales, like much of the UK, has been tough. After struggling to sell the property the traditional way, we decided to try something different: a house raffle.
